The good- Fantastic visuals, world building and action sequences, Jason Mamoa as a dude-bro Aquaman is a refreshing take on the character, supporting cast is mostly good. Worth watching in IMAx just for the spectacle. The director’s horror movie background shines in some scenes.
The bad- a LOT of movie crammed into one so it feels a bit long, pacing is little jarring in some parts. Some old tropes.
Overall, entertaining if you can sit thru 2.20 hours so if you have Superhero movie fatigue don’t watch this. Would give it a 6.5/10.

Then the power rangers showed up, it was odd in a few parts.

That's a stupidly long movie.

We have one of the relatively rare 15/ 70 IMAX theaters here, and it was stunning.
Definitely some thin plot points, but overall it seemed true to the comic ethos. Was nice to see something which didn’t take itself as seriously as most of the Marvel films.

I agree with your notes. My gripe was that too many of the questions had instant answers. “Hey, we have problem X, well here is exactly what we are going to do”.

Saw it today with the the Mrs. She drew immediate comparisons to Thor: Ragnarok in terms of taking its self seriously.
It was a welcome change from “Martha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” and the grim dark murderverse.
William Dafoe was a brilliant casting choice, though he is approaching Jerem y Irons/Michael Caine in terms of does this guy say no to a role ever?

I enjoyed it. Story wasn’t anything that remarkable, but the fact we got these two on screen as comic accurate as they were, blew my nerd mind.
I thought it was a lot of fun and would like to see another.

When they were getting their ass kicked in Sicily I was totally expecting the Guitar riff to start off the theme and Wonder woman to show up in a cameo and save them.

My wife and I agree with your review. The only thing we would add is did nobody proofread the script? Some of the lines are just ridiculous.

I enjoyed this more than the mess that JL was.

If they are charging me $15 for a movie, I want it to be long! Even if it is bad.
Now excuse me, I need to go get some kids off my lawn.

I saw it with my Dad Friday. I really liked how they handled the CGI parts, and the battle scenes. The story lines setting them up appeared a bit thin. Like many have said, they could have made it into multiple movies. The whole “reluctant hero” story line is a bit long in the tooth, but for a DC movie, it was excellent. If it was a marvel movie, I would have been upset.
On a better note, I love how popular Randal Park has become in movies lately. His cameo as Asian Jim on The Office has made him a favorite of mine for quite a while now.

That would have been pretty cool, and then they could have played up a jealousy angle between her and the princess (who was clearly Ariel).
